What You Should Know About Driver Updating

There are a variety of popular warnings and other messages which you may get in the driver upgrading procedure, many of which I've paraphrased and right here along with information on what to do:

QUESTION: I have seen this Event Log Message:

The NVIDIA OpenGL driver lost connection with the display driver due to exceeding the Windows Time-Out limit and is unable to continue.
                The Application must close.

ANSWER: If you received this message from an application (on a pop up message or in the Event Log), the application was unable to continue rendering because the Microsoft Windows imposed time limit (TDR) was exceeded. This is normally the case when the workload sent to the Graphics Card is greater than what the graphics card can process in the normal timeout of two seconds.

Two possible solutions to try would be:

1. Reduce the graphics workload if possible, such as rendering to a lower resolution or with less detail.

2. Update Graphic driver. You can download DriverTuner and let it update your drivers automatically.

Method to Update Driver with Device Manager

1. Open Control Panel

Depending on your version of Windows, Control Panel is usually available from the Start Menu or the Apps screen.

Note: If you don't see these options, your Control Panel view may be set to Large icons, Small icons, or Classic View, depending on your version of Windows. If so, find and choose Device Manager from the big collection of icons you see and then skip to Step 3 below.

2. Open Device Manager

From the open Control Panel window, click System, choose the Hardware tab, and then click the Device Manager button.

3. With Device Manager now open, you can view a device's status, update the device drivers, or do whatever other hardware management you came here to do.

To download and update the driver for NVidia ION LE yourself (If you are a geek)

It's best to let Windows install device drivers automatically. But if Windows can't find a driver for your NVidia ION LE, you can look for a driver on the manufacturer's website of NVidia. Driver updates are often available in the support section of such sites.

Once you find the updated driver, follow the installation instructions on the website. Most drivers are self-installing—after you download them, just double-click the file to begin the installation, and then the driver installs itself on your computer. But make sure your are downloading drivers from a safe website to avoid virus attack or registry corruption. Download a professional driver updater or find a geek to help you.
